The topic of "finding my dream man" has occupied me since I was a little girl. Back then I imagined standing at the altar one day with the cute boy from the parallel class. Sadly, nothing came of it. By now I'm a few years older and many of my girlfriends are already married. I come from a generation that still wrote love letters to each other. Today, in the modern age, the search for the right one has a completely different significance.

With some of my single girlfriends I keep facing the same question: "Where should I find my dream man?" Is it worth looking for like-minded people at specific places? Should a sporty, ambitious woman check out every meeting spot for outdoor enthusiasts or sign up for a boot camp? Should my friend, who wants a partner who shares her interest in art and history, go flirting at the museum?

Or is all of that a waste of time, and you might as well create an online dating profile right away? After all, various platforms advertise with mottos like "Find your dream man - fast and easy." Questionnaires designed by experts are supposed to increase your chances of finding the right partner. You state your preferred qualities and everything you'd rather do without gets filtered out on the spot. It's certainly easier when you clear up in advance that you're not looking for a non-smoker and couch potato and that you eat mostly vegetarian. But isn't it rather unromantic to limit yourself to online dating when the most beautiful "magic moments" are written by life itself?

How much nicer it would be to tell the grandchildren that you found the right one while dreamily browsing in a bookstore, and he couldn't hold back a smile at your quirky taste in literature. Or it's a completely rainy, miserable day and suddenly Mr. Right ends up at the same bus stop and you start talking. Just like that, because fate wanted it that way.

Finding Your Dream Man Means Keeping Your Eyes Open

But you probably have to adapt somewhat to the fast-paced lifestyle too. And then it's not so bad anymore if you meet a nice guy on a dating app who then turns out to be likable in real life as well.

The question "How should I find my dream man" simply can't be dismissed with a blanket answer. It's much more about developing good intuition and listening to your feelings. And then you'll surely find HIM all on your own - whether offline or online.
