Just think of Baywatch, and you already have the typical image of a model man — the tanned face, the athletic body, the muscles, all wrapped up in his sexy swim trunks. But that was back then. I had a crush on David Hasselhoff too. Ten years later, I asked myself what I'd even found so attractive about him.

Model men from the movies rely on a complete visual package — starting with the face, all the way to posture and the right outfit. Character barely plays a role in that. Girls often fell for the bad boys and even found them the most attractive of all.

In the reality of looking for a partner, things look quite different. The photos on online dating platforms show plenty of model men. The concept of attractiveness, though, is just as varied as the range of dating sites out there — and it lies in the eye of the beholder.

If you take model men from the movies as an example again, you'll notice that the most popular actors have just as many fans as haters, or people who are simply puzzled by their fame.
