Men and women are fundamentally different. They can live together, and among other things they even need each other to survive. Men and women — they can't stand each other, yet they can't live without each other. Certain clichés get attached to each gender. Women talk a lot, love being on the phone, love shopping, and are especially fixated on hair and makeup. Men love sports, fast food, women, and they love to grill. Who would claim that these clichés don't show up in at least one of us too?

Men and Women - Mars and Venus

As a rule, men and women set their needs, priorities, and interests differently. That doesn't mean women don't like sports or that men don't enjoy shopping. It's exactly these contrasts that can make the sexes attractive to one another. They're like cat and mouse. While the men go hunting for women, the women hide like mice to capture their attention. They differ especially in one thing: men tend to think rationally and women emotionally. Which is exactly why they complement each other so well.

Men and Women - Considering How They Were Raised

Take, for example, the role of parents raising a child. Both the rational and the emotional aspects of parenting always come into play. Often one doesn't understand the other, holds different views, and would make certain decisions differently. But when it really counts, each of them knows the right thing to say. Women often get along better with men than with other women, because communication is simpler here. Women often snipe at each other and are frequently offended over trivial things.

There's rarely conflict among men, because they're direct and say straight away what they want. Of course, we also shouldn't forget the societal differences between men and women. On average, women earn less money than men in the same jobs, under the same conditions. A man in a senior political office is also held in higher regard and represented more often than women. When it comes to entering the workforce, women fundamentally don't have it as easy as men, mainly because employers consider the fact that women will have children and could be absent for a long time due to parental leave. In such cases, it's simply more convenient for employers to hire a man instead.
